The Canadian West is a place of natural beauty, history and the strangest weather. I see the beauty every day, if I'm paying attention, and get a chance to recreate the history. As for the weather, if you don't like it right now, wait 5 minutes.

Name:

Been around a while, love the Canadian west, the variety of climate and countryside, along with the history that has made this part of Canada unique. I re-live this history as a volunteer with organizations that educate and serve the community. I like to think I'm retired, others joke that I'm underemployed. If I had a real job, I wouldn't be able to enjoy time with my family & friends as much as I do. I think that's the better way to go.

I guess this is my favourite image. This is the Burmis Tree (I took the photograph in early 1997). The tree, though dead for many years, has withstood the ravages of time and weather for centuries, the re-routing of highways, but could not withstand human nature. This picture was taken before vandals damaged the tree and lopped off the bottom limb. It has now been replaced and is anchored to the tree by a metal brace and continues to act as a sentinel entering the Crowsnest Pass area of Southern Alberta Canada.

Something New

This is something new, never tried it before. Have to work on it, add a few pictures and see what happens. More later.
